ABBYY Lingvo requests activation after every restart and user change


ABBYY Lingvo requests activation every time Windows is restarted or a different user logs on.


Make sure that the user that launches the application has permission to access the following folder:

  1. For Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8: C:\ProgramData\ABBYY\Lingvo\Version number\Licenses

    Example: C:\ProgramData\ABBYY\Lingvo\15.0\Licenses

  2. For Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ABBYY\Lingvo\Version number\Licenses

    Example: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ABBYY\Lingvo\15.0\Licenses

Note. This folder is hidden by default, and you'll have to enable the viewing of hidden files and folders on your computer.

To show hidden files and folders:

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Click the Control Panel item.
  3. Click the Folder Options item.
  4. Select the View tab.
  5. In the Hidden files and folders section, select the Show hidden files and folders option.
  6. Click the OK button.

To view and edit user permissions:

  1. Right-click the folder specified in the beginning of this article.
  2. Select Properties from the shortcut menu.
  3. Select the Security tab.
  4. Click the Edit button.
  5. Select the user account from which you'd like to run ABBYY Lingvo.
  6. Give the user permission to read the folder.

Note. Administrator's permissions might be required to view and edit permissions for a folder.
